The Mannequin is a Lesser Demon introduced in 7-1: GARDEN OF FORKING PATHS, and is the sixth Demon-class enemy that the player encounters in ULTRAKILL.

Mannequins are humanoid, statue-like creatures with a feminine appearance, whose bloodstained bodies consist of a stark white shell broken into numerous joints with leaking blood. Each of the Mannequin's limbs is made up of multiple arms holding onto each other. Their other prominent features are an upside-down face, which shows a neutral expression, wrists each with two fused hands at the end, and ankle joints made up of a hand clenching onto another hand. Similarly to Cerberi Cerberi, inactive Mannequins can be found decorating rooms and changing poses when the player looks away. The time it takes to change a pose ranges from 1 to 3 seconds. Pairs of Mannequins can also be seen in 7-2: LIGHT UP THE NIGHT, cradling orange orbs together.

    Behavior

Mannequins are one of the quickest enemies in the game; they move erratically across the environment by skittering on all fours with extreme speed and can maneuver themselves around cover, making them a constant threat. They are able to crawl and jump onto walls and ceilings, either on their own or after being knocked into one, and will usually remain stationary with the ability to freely move short distances. Hitting Mannequins clinging to a wall causes them to fall to the ground and temporarily stun them. Hitting them with a rocket Rocket while they are on a wall or ceiling will count as an airshot and create a red explosion.

    Attacks

    Homing Projectile
The Mannequin will charge and shoot a HellOrbBlue.png Hell Seeker at the player, dealing 30 damage.
The projectile can be parried with the Feedbacker Feedbacker, and the charge-up can be interrupted, but not parried.

    Two-Swing Combo
While on the ground and when the player is within close range, the Mannequin will dash forward and slash twice in a row, each hit dealing 30 damage.
Both swings can be Feedbacker Feedbacker parried and Shotgun Shotgun parried.

    Strategy

Because of their natural 50% resistance to explosions, they can be quite difficult to kill effectively with said methods. Core Nukes can instantly kill a large group of Mannequins, but they must be directly next to the core, as they will otherwise survive with minimal health.

The Electric Railcannon Electric Railcannon will always be able to kill a Mannequin instantly, but it might be impractical unless multiple Mannequins are bunched up together. Players can group a crowd of Mannequins by being grounded, as they will prioritize running up to and swiping at the player rather than using projectiles.

Parrying either of the Mannequin’s attacks will instantly kill it, making this a reliable and efficient way to eliminate one. Punching them with the Feedbacker Feedbacker while they fall in midair will "parry" the Mannequin and kill it instantly. However, the latter method may be difficult to find practical in the chaos of enemy encounters.

The Marksman Revolver Marksman Revolver truly shines against Mannequins, as their quick speed and tendency to hide in nooks and crannies of arenas make it difficult to spot and hit. Two coin ricochets from the standard Marksman Revolver Marksman Revolver is enough to kill a Mannequin.

Sawblade Sawblade Traps are also an effective tool against grounded Mannequins, as they will often run into them if the player is grounded and near the trap.

    Terminal Entry

    Mannequin

    TYPE: Lesser Demon

    DATA:
During the departure of the angels after the Disappearance of God, many sinners attempted to escape the Violence layer, braving the labyrinth that lay at its edges, thinking they could find a way out in the absence of Heaven's wardens.

The fools who attempted would realize far too late that angels were not all that kept them from freedom, as the Garden of Forking Paths is no ordinary labyrinth, but one of malicious intent, overseen with cunning cruelty.

The halls, each similar enough to give no sense of direction, but just different enough to grant no familiarity, would eventually exhaust each escapee, and as they fell into a deep sleep, their metamorphosis began.

Each sinner was torn apart joint by joint, their broken and shattered limbs shoved into hollow statues, startling them to life as the flesh and blood of Mannequins.

The gift of death is a rare privilege in Hell, so the sinners who attempted to control their fate now lay dormant in eternal agony, unable to control even their own bodies, which now continue to carry on the same punishment to other unfortunate fools.

    STRATEGY:
    - Though they are nimble, if a Mannequin is knocked into the air or hit while clinging onto a surface, they lose their balance when landing, granting a small window for an easier hit. Those fast enough may even punch them in the air while they're vulnerable, killing them in a single blow.

    - Mannequin projectiles can be difficult to avoid due to their homing capabilities, but this makes them even easier to parry with the Feedbacker arm.

    - Mannequins are easier to hit with the larger radius of explosions, but are more resistant against them than other weaponry.

    Trivia

    • Some poses struck by Mannequins reference the hit manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Others are generic fashion poses.
    • A group of three Mannequins is depicted on the cover of ULTRAKILL's Violence soundtrack, with their poses spelling out "GAY" in flag semaphore language.
    • Mannequins can be heard breathing when in close proximity, lead developer Hakita recorded the sound effect by breathing into his microphone.
    • Upon death, Mannequins will explode into blood more violently than most enemies, with each gib fragment spraying blood.
    • If the Disable Enemy Spawns cheat is enabled, all decorative and enemy Mannequins will disappear from the level.
