The Flesh Prison is the first boss of P-1: SOUL SURVIVOR. It is a huge, octahedral mass of flesh, skin, eyes, and teeth with two big flesh roots coming out of both of its ends which attach it to the center of the room. It is currently one of the largest enemies in the game in both width and height. This boss is extremely challenging due to its unique capability of healing itself in the middle of the fight and its variety of deadly attacks. Minos Prime Minos Prime's orb will appear when the Flesh Prison is killed, starting Minos' speech and fight.

Behavior

The Flesh Prison stays put in one place, rotating continuously. When it first appears, it will rotate for a small time before opening its mouth and summoning multiple minions in a vertical circle around itself. These minions resemble floating eyes and smaller versions of a Malicious Face Malicious Face (exclusive to the Violent difficulty and over). When starting an attack, Flesh Prison makes whisper-like sounds.

After 50% of the Flesh Prison's health has been depleted, it will empower all of its attacks.

Attacks

Hell Seeker Spiral
A cyan ring will appear around the Flesh Prison. Then, it will start summoning a spiral pattern of 50 HellOrbBlue.png Hell Seekers from its mouth as its spin accelerates. It has a chance to change the direction of its spin at the start of this attack.
The Hell Seekers deal 30 damage and can be parried or deflected back to the Flesh Prison.
When 50% of its health has been depleted, it will summon 25 additional Hell Seekers per barrage, for 75 total.

Divine Light
A white ring will appear around the Flesh Prison. It will then cast two beams of divine light that deal 30 damage and linger for a few moments before disappearing, with each subsequent beam lasting 1 second longer than the previous. They are indicated by an insignia that follows the player until a few moments before the beam is cast.
The beams are extremely similar to the Virtue Virtue's beams, although much wider.
When 50% of its health has been depleted, it will cast an additional beam during this attack, for three total.

Black Hole
A purple ring will appear around the Flesh Prison. It will then summon a BlackHole.png Black Hole, similarly to The Corpse of King Minos The Corpse of King Minos. The Black Hole slowly approaches the player, and on contact, it will be destroyed, dealing 10 damage and overriding the player's remaining HP with 99 hard damage.
Only one Black Hole can exist at a time.
The Black Hole can only be destroyed if it comes into contact with the player or when the Flesh Prison is killed.

Heal
The Flesh Prison will attempt to heal if there are any summons alive. During a heal, it will gain a huge amount of damage resistance, making any attempts to damage it futile.
If there are no summons alive, or after a successful heal, it will summon ten more Eye Spawn on Standard, with a certain number replaced with Malicious Spawn on higher difficulties.
If 50% of its health was depleted when it started the heal, the Flesh Prison will summon two extra Eye Spawn on Standard for twelve total, and more will be replaced with Malicious Spawn on higher difficulties.

Spawn
The Eye Spawn have 1 health. Their sole attack is shoot a beam that deals 15 damage.
This attack is unparriable, though the beam can be ricocheted off of a Coin Coin, giving the + CHARGEBACK style bonus.

On higher difficulties, the Flesh Prison will replace a number of its normal summons with Malicious Spawn. They have 2 health and their only attack is charging a beam similar to the Malicious Railcannon Malicious Railcannon's hitscan, creating an explosion on contact with any surface, Core Eject Grenade Core Eject Grenade or Rocket Rocket, dealing 50 damage. When they are finished charging the beam, they will attempt to predict the player's movement, and target the beam accordingly.
The attack cannot be parried, though the beam can be ricocheted off of a Coin Coin, giving the + CHARGEBACK style bonus.

Since the beam shares the same hitscan type as the Malicious Railcannon, it can also be used to perform a Core Nuke.
If the player is riding a Rocket, the Malicious Spawn will attempt to target it instead of a surface, which can lead to players being exploded even while not near any surfaces.

Healing

The Flesh Prison has a second, smaller green bar under its health bar that indicates a timer. When the timer runs out, Flesh Prison will finish any attack it was currently doing, start continuously screaming and glow a bright neon green. It will make a green connection to all the spawn currently alive and leave a small window of time for the player to kill as many of them as possible before starting to rapidly absorb them one by one, regaining 10 HP per spawn absorbed by the Prison (less on Accessible difficulties). When it is done absorbing all of the spawn, it will then stop glowing, summon a new set of them and resume its spinning.
This phase is particularly dangerous due to it being able to reset the Flesh Prison back to full health and summon fresh spawn, resetting any progress against this boss.

The timer's length depends on the total amount of spawn left and the total damage dealt to the Flesh Prison. The formula is the following:

(Heal Time) - (Total Damage done to the Flesh Prison) x (Multiplier determined by amount of spawn left)

The multiplier is determined by the amount of spawn left. It will be one of the following:

9+ Spawn: x1.5

5-8 Spawn: /2.5

1-4 Spawn: /5

0 Spawn: /7.5

Strategy

Although the Flesh Prison has a chaotic set of attacks and many damage resistances, it also has a set of major weakpoints that can be exploited.

Getting rid of the spawn is crucial, so as to not allow the Flesh Prison to heal and reset all progress in the fight. Shooting a Core Core from the Core Eject Shotgun Core Eject Shotgun and then sniping it with the Malicious Railcannon Malicious Railcannon right as the Flesh Prison is summoning more is the most effective way to wipe out all of them.
Less experienced players can use the Marksman Revolver Marksman Revolver's coins and attempt to hit the Triple or Double Time period of the coins to get splitshots and kill multiple spawn at once. Simply shooting the spawn with the Revolver Revolver can also be effective if the player is skilled at aiming.
On Violent, the more durable Malicious Spawn can be shot with the Alternate Revolver Alternate Revolver to be instantly killed.

The Flesh Prison itself can be taken care of in multiple ways due to its stationary nature. Placing a Magnet on the Flesh Prison and then unloading both Sawblade Launchers Sawblade Launchers is, by far, the most effective attack on it, as it can take out up to half of the Flesh Prison's healthpool on its own. Shotgun Blasts and Knuckleblaster Knuckleblaster punches combined are also extremely effective in taking out the Flesh Prison's health, and combined with the Sawblade Launcher strategy the Flesh Prison can be killed before the next wave of minions even spawns.

Healing is extremely trivial in this fight; as the Flesh Prison is stationary, it allows one to grapple onto it with the Whiplash Whiplash and use point-blank Shotgun Blasts to quickly restore health. However, extreme caution should be paid, as staying close to the Flesh Prison may lead to you being hit by the Black Hole and risk death.
The Hell Seekers the Flesh Prison shoots during its Hell Seeker Spiral can also be parried with the Feedbacker Feedbacker for a full heal, full stamina recharge and a good amount of damage back to the Flesh Prison. They can also be deflected back to the Flesh Prison with explosions such as the Knuckleblaster's shockwave or the Pump Shotgun Pump Shotgun's Overpump Explosion for a huge amount of damage to the Flesh Prison.

Dodging the Flesh Prison requires a good amount of attention from the player; sliding around the arena is the best way to avoid being damaged by its attacks, however not paying attention may lead to a player getting hit by the Black Hole and being brought to the brink of death.
The Hell Seeker Spiral attack can also be dodged by simply ducking under the Flesh Prison until it switches to another attack, however this, again, can be a devastating approach if the Black Hole manages to hit the player.

Terminal Entry

TYPE: ???

DATA:
Flesh Prison is an uncategorized organism created by the angels to imprison Minos' soul after he was slain by Gabriel.

Although it is similar to Husks, it does not possess a soul or any amount of thought. All of its actions are purely predetermined reactions to stimulus, making it more of an organic machine than a living being.

In order to make it as impenetrable as possible, it was given both divine power and hell energy, which makes its attacks erratic and chaotic.

STRATEGY:
- Flesh Prison will use its spawn to heal its own wounds. The more spawn are left, the more likely it is for Flesh Prison to attempt to heal its wounds, so it's advisable to avoid damaging it until the spawn are dead.

- The long window of a delayed split shot timing makes for a great way to clear out multiple spawn at once. Throwing multiple coins high into the air and waiting for them to reach the delayed split shot state before shooting them is a strong opening move after Flesh Prison creates its spawn.
