Idols are Lesser Demons first introduced in the level 5-2: Waves of the Starless Sea. They resemble a carved marble statue in the form of the Virgin Mary, carrying an infant Jesus Christ. Idols have a distinct heavenly blue aura around them and cast a tall beam of light when looked at from farther away.
BEHAVIOR
Idols are stationary enemies, and the only action they do is protect a single enemy from any source of damage, with the only exception being environmental threats. An enemy with this effect is commonly referred to as "idoled" or "blessed". This protection does have a limitation: blessed enemies are still pushed by anything that usually deals knockback. Enemies under the effect of an Idol cannot be used for healing, as they cannot be damaged, and cannot be grappled or snatched by the Whiplash. An idoled enemy can easily be differentiated by their white glowing coating and transparent beam starting from the enemy leading to the Idol. Note that this beam can go through walls. If an idoled enemy has a boss health bar, the boss healthbar will be blue, as opposed to the usual red healthbar. This can be seen in mainly levels 5-2 during the Ferryman phase 2 transition and 7-4 during the fight with the core of the 1000-THR "Earthmover". Additionally, if the Idol is Radiant, then its target will also become radiant while the Idol is still alive.
Idols are themselves immune to almost any source of damage and cannot be grappled by the Whiplash. The only ways to destroy an Idol is to punch it with either the Feedbacker or Knuckleblaster, explode it with the shockwave of the Knuckleblaster, break it with the primary fire of the Impact Hammer, or by ground slamming. Killing an Idol will refill the player's health bar up until the normal limit or the hard damage limit.

DATA:
Although they can easily be mistaken to be of divine origin, Idols were created using the same process as other demons. Unlike their larger kin, their shells were too small to contain a useful amount of Hell Mass, creating life, but leaving it unable to move or act.
The Idols did not originally look divine, but were painstakingly carved to such shapes by Ferrymen who collected them during travels across the layers of Hell. This was done as both an act of compassion and as a tribute to angels, particularily[sic] Gabriel, whom Ferrymen believe to have similarily[sic] granted them mercy.
Close proximity to a Ferryman's holy cloth during the long and arduous carving process caused its holy power to seep into them, allowing them to continue the chain of compassion by protecting others from physical harm.
It is fortunate for them that Gabriel is the only angel of Heaven's higher order to watch over Hell, since if the Council had found out about such beings, they would have been labelled perversions of the divine form and ordered to be destroyed by the Ferrymen who so lovingly had granted them a chance at life.
STRATEGY:
- Although Idols are immune to projectiles, they can be destroyed by a blunt force melee attack such as a punch or a ground slam.
- Blessed enemies cannot be damaged by attacks, but will still be pushed by physical forces and can be killed by environmental dangers, such as crushers or fans.
