This page is about the tutorial enemy in 7-3. For information on the Puppeted status effect, see Puppeted.

The standard form Puppet (named in-game as ???[1]) is an enemy introduced in 7-3: NO SOUND, NO MEMORY. It is spawned by the first tree and serves as a tutorial for the level's mechanic as well as the Puppeted status effect.

Puppets appear to be humanoid entities made of blood, visually vibrating and changing shape.

    Behavior

Puppets are continuously spawned by the trees in 7-3, as both a threat and a means to feed the trees enough to progress through the level. The first tree summons the standard Puppet enemy while the other trees in the level summon different types of Puppeted enemies each.

Standard form Puppets slowly walk towards the player and swipe when they are in range.

All Puppet forms, including the standard one, take 2× damage and have a 25% reduction to their speed.

Puppets immediately die when sanded by a Stalker Stalker, as they are made of pure blood.

Attacks against Puppets give no style and do not procure style bonuses.

    Attacks

    Swipe

The Puppet will take a swipe at its target, dealing 10 damage to the player or 1 damage to enemies.
    This attack cannot be parried.

    Strategy

The Standard form's melee attacks are slow and easy to dodge if the player stays out of their range, making them very easy to fight.

Sawblade Sawblade traps are especially good for taking them out since they spawn in a large group and walk in predictable straight lines. Projectile boosts and the Rocket Launcher Rocket Launchers are also good for taking them out.
