The Corpse of King Minos is a Supreme Husk and is a massive, mummified corpse of the former Judge of Hell, King Minos, and is the boss of 2-4: COURT OF THE CORPSE KING and the final boss of the Lust layer. It is also the fifth Husk-class enemy that the player encounters in ULTRAKILL.

The Corpse of King Minos has a shriveled, decaying, blackened, dark purple body, large blocks strapped all over its body and limbs with barbed wire, a colossal stone crown made of elongated rectangular prisms, and two white glowing eyes that emit bright beams of light akin to searchlights. Although not regularly seen during normal gameplay, its mouth is left agape and blocked off by barbed wire. As displayed in concept art, its official render, and in its Terminal entry, its hands are also constrained by barbed wire, but its arms are free when it is fought in combat.

    First Encounter

    Behavior

The Corpse of King Minos is first encountered when its arm breaks through a wall once the tram stops in the middle of a long hallway leading to the Red Skull pathway. When the arm's introduction finishes, it will wait for 1.5 seconds before starting to attack.
After 2 attacks in a row, the arm will wait for 5 seconds before continuing to attack.

On each phase transition, attacks become 25% faster, the attack cooldown is decreased by 1 second, and the number of attacks that occur between cooldowns is increased by 1.

    Attacks

    Slams

The hand will slam randomly into either the left wall, the right wall, or the floor, creating a shockwave.
The shockwaves deal 35 damage to the player or 3.5 damage to enemies, with a max size of 350 units and a speed of 90 units/sec.
Wall slam shockwaves are 3× thicker than normal shockwaves, while floor slam shockwaves are 7× thicker.

    Strategy

Before the fight begins, players can place down a Nail Nail or Sawblade Sawblade trap to take out a huge chunk of the hand's health right at the start of the fight.

Due to its large hitbox, weapons like the Shotgun Shotguns and Nailgun Nailguns are the most efficient way to take the hand out. Shotgun Shotgun swapping is the most efficient technique to tear out chunks of the hand's health. More experienced players may attempt a Railcoin Railcoin at the start of the fight.

    Difficulty Changes

    Harmless

    • Slam shockwaves travel at 30 u/s.
    • Attacks are 35% slower.

    Lenient

    • Slam shockwaves travel at 60 u/s.
    • Attacks are 15% slower.

    Violent

    • The amount of attacks that occur between cooldowns is increased by 1 in each phase.

    Brutal

    • There are no cooldowns between attacks.

    Second Encounter

    Behavior

    Minos

First, if it has been 5 or more seconds since the last BlackHole.png Black Hole was active, Minos will create a new black hole.
Then, if it has been 2 or more seconds since the last Slam, Minos will perform another slam.

Upon transitioning to the second phase, parasites will burst out of its eyes, the current Black Hole will collapse, and Slam cooldowns become 1 second slower.

    Parasites

Upon breaking out of The Corpse of King Minos, each parasite will have an initial cooldown of 0–3 seconds before beginning to attack.
They will choose randomly between their Projectile Blast and Homing Projectile attacks, then wait for 2–4 seconds before attacking again.

    Attacks

    Minos

    Slams

Depending on the player's position in the arena, The Corpse of King Minos will attack with either a left or right-hand punch, a left-hand palm strike, or a right-hand slam, each dealing 45 damage. Each slam has a 2-second cooldown in the first phase and a 3-second cooldown in the second phase.
These attacks can be parried with the Feedbacker Feedbacker or Shotgun Shotgun, awarding the + DOWN TO SIZE style bonus and completing the level's challenge.

    Black Hole

The Corpse of King Minos will tap the center of the arena, creating a black hole that constantly approaches the player at 8 u/s.
Upon coming into contact with the player, it will set its Hard Damage to 99 or kill it if below 10 HP, then collapse.

    Parasites

    Projectile Blast

A parasite will charge giant projectiles, then fire 9 projectiles at the player in the center with the others evenly spaced in a 3-degree cone around it.
If the charging projectiles are hit with any hitscan weapon, the + INTERRUPTION style bonus will be awarded, but no extra damage will occur.
Each projectile travels at the same speed as its distance to the player when spawned with a minimum speed of 65 u/s.
They deal 25 damage to the player or 2.5 damage to enemies, and can be Feedbacker Feedbacker parried or deflected by explosions.

    Homing Projectile

A parasite will charge a giant homing projectile, then shoot it at the player.
If the charging projectiles are hit with any hitscan weapon, the + INTERRUPTION style bonus will be awarded, but no extra damage will occur.
The projectile travels at the same speed as its distance to the player when spawned with a minimum speed of 65 u/s, accelerates at 25 u/s², and angles toward its target at 185°/s.
It deals 25 damage to the player or 2.5 damage to enemies, and can be Feedbacker Feedbacker parried or deflected by explosions.

    Strategy

The Corpse of King Minos is a dangerous enemy, due to its highly damaging punches and indestructible Black Hole.

Its gigantic hitbox makes weapons like the Pump Charge Shotgun Pump Charge Shotgun, Nailgun Nailgun, and Rocket Launcher Rocket Launcher amazing against it, as the accuracy normally needed to deal high amounts of damage to enemies with them is a non-issue against the Corpse Of King Minos. Shotgun swapping and Overheat Storage Overheat Storage are the most effective techniques to combat it. The Electric Railcannon Electric Railcannon is also a great weapon to use on the Corpse Of King Minos, especially when combined with Coin Coins.

Healing is not as trivial in this fight, however, the player does have some ways to guarantee survival; Parrying its punches with the Feedbacker Feedbacker will not only provide the player with a full heal and stamina recharge, but will also deal great damage to the boss due to its weakness to parrying. Parrying and detonating its projectiles with the Sharpshooter Revolver Sharpshooter Revolver is also a great way to deal damage to the Corpse of King Minos. The player can also grapple on one of the hands holding on to the arena via the Whiplash Whiplash and use the Shotguns to quickly restore large amounts of health.

Evasion is vital in this fight; not only is it important for the player to avoid the punches they are not confident in parrying, but the Black Hole is a deadly threat and should be avoided at all costs. The best course of action for the player is to continually move around the arena, including by sliding away from the Black Hole and by dashing through punches that the player may find themselves lacking confidence in parrying.

    Terminal Entry

    The Corpse of King Minos

    TYPE: Supreme Husk

    DATA:
Once the great and beloved king of the Lust layer, Minos has now been reduced to a shambling corpse.

Due to his incredible power of will and status as a just ruler in life remembered even millenia[sic] after his death, the manifestation of his soul is the largest Husk to ever have been recorded.

Small traces of the original soul can still be detected in the body, but the corpse itself is animated and controlled entirely by the snakelike Parasites that he once commanded.

Despite once bringing upon the renaissance of the Lust layer, his corpse now only seeks sinners to punish.

    STRATEGY:
    - Due to his large stature, it can be quite difficult to recover blood from him, but his hands are usually holding on to the walls of the arena, which can be used for refueling.

    - Any weapon will work against an enemy this large, but melee and projectile parries make for a quick way to inflict grave damage.

    - Although it moves slowly, the Black Hole he summons is extremely dangerous and cannot be destroyed.

    Trivia

    • Though his body appears purple in the Lust layer, The Corpse of King Minos is actually grey, as evident when viewing him in the Terminals.
      • He appears purple in the Lust layer due to using separate texture maps. Both for him standing idly throughout the layer and for his boss battle.
    • He is fully modeled and animated in every level that he appears in.
    • Activating the "Disable Enemy Spawns" cheat removes both the hand and corpse fights, and automatically unlocks the exit.
    • There has been a misconception before about how the Gluttony layer is inside the Corpse of King Minos. However, Hell itself is not a concrete physical space, and the Gluttony layer itself is merely entered through the Corpse's mouth, and does not directly take place entirely inside it, except when it does.
