Something Wicked is the sole enemy introduced in its namesake level, 0-S: SOMETHING WICKED. It resembles a tall and extremely thin dark brown humanoid figure, composed of a withered circulatory system, a large heart, and three small clots in its head that form a crude facial structure. Its appearance cannot be seen in the Terminal, as static is displayed in place of its portrait.

    Behavior

Something Wicked spawns once the player picks up the Blue Skull Blue Skull, after which it will patrol the level, walking slowly between the Red Skull Red Skull pedestal room and the Cerberus room until it spots the player, indicated by it emitting a sharp whisper. It will then pursue the player until line of sight is broken, after which it will go back to patrolling the level. Something Wicked remains active if the player is holding a Skull and has not placed it on any of their corresponding pedestals.

It constantly emits a low buzzing sound and applies a static noise filter to the player's screen, both of which are scaled by proximity to the player, in volume and intensity. Additionally, a radiation interference effect will be applied to the player's screen when they are near Something Wicked, with the effect growing in intensity the closer it is to them.

    Attacks

    Contact
Upon touching the player, Something Wicked deals 999 damage and teleports away.

    Strategy

When Something Wicked is damaged, it will teleport to the farthest patrol point from the player. Due to the player being locked to the default revolver during 0-S: SOMETHING WICKED, it is recommended to always be charging a shot, for both visibility and safety.

Additionally, the low buzzing sound and visual noise attached to Something Wicked makes it easy to track its proximity to the player.

Punching with a held Skull will cause said Skull to glow brighter for a short period of time, making it slightly easier for the player to spot and damage Something Wicked when it is close.

Something Wicked cannot enter spaces that are shorter than itself, so hiding in a vent or low ceiling area can prevent it from reaching the player.

If truly necessary, wall climbing for a short period may give one a moment to breathe over the presence of Something Wicked.

    Terminal Entry

    Something Wicked
    TYPE: ???
    DATA:

Very little is known about this creature.

Some speculate it to be a Husk, but due to its elusive and extremely hostile nature, no one has been able to confirm the hypothesis.

All that can be determined for sure is that it consists entirely of a withered cardiovascular system and a dead heart, which has led to the common assumption that its physical body's manifestation failed.

Only one has ever been observed and it has never been seen leaving the section of the Mouth of Hell in which it currently resides.

    STRATEGY:

    - Any attack will temporarily cause it to relocate, but there are no known ways to kill it.

    - Its way of attacking is unknown outside of the fact that it happens on physical contact, but no amount of protection has saved any of its victims.

    Trivia

    • "Something wicked this way comes." is originally a line from the 1606 play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The name of this enemy may be a reference to either the base material or to one of the works referencing it, as it has been referenced numerous times in pop culture.
    • Before the ULTRA_REVAMP Update, the model used for Something Wicked was practically identical to that used for the Puppet Puppets on account of both using the beta Filth Filth model. The only difference between Something Wicked and Puppets is that the former's model is stretched vertically.
