2-2: DEATH AT 20,000 VOLTS is the second level of Lust, introducing the Soldier, the
Electric Railcannon, and Circular Checkpoints. The level takes place in an abandoned suburban city, where the player has to break various power controllers to unlock the path forward.
The music used in this level is Requiem.
Level
Start
The start of 2-2 takes place in a small urban region in the city of Lust; with stone buildings, streetlamps, and bounce pads, walled off by stone barriers and invisible force fields to the outside of the level.
To the left side of the entrance gate lies a hallway, blocked off by three yellow locks, connected to power boxes that must be destroyed to unlock them.
Walking into the level will give the first introduction to the Soldiers, upgraded versions of
Strays. They are highly explosive resistant, fire multiple projectiles in a shotgun-esque pattern, and kick the player if they are too close. Their introduction consists of just three, with two on a slightly raised section of the street next to a
Cerberus statue, and one by a lower path next to a stream of water.
This level also introduces Circular Checkpoints. One appears in front of the player at the start of the level. After finishing the initial enemy encounter, the checkpoint reappears, along with the following prompt.
Power Box Hunt
The first power box lies in a building to the right side of the arena, within a small bedroom. Breaking it with any weapon will summon four Soldiers and cause the previously mentioned
Cerberus to awaken.
The second power box is placed at the end of a raised walkway connected by the roofs of the buildings to the west. Breaking it will trigger three Soldiers and a
Malicious Face to spawn at the other end of the walkway.
The third power box is led by a small alleyway section underneath the second power box, with the box connected to a room behind the locked hallway. Breaking the box will spawn in two Soldiers, and two
Streetcleaners further down the alleyway. Once all three boxes are destroyed, the previously locked hallway will be opened up.
Grand Generator
After the short hallway lies a large, incredibly tall room with a spiraling staircase surrounding a cylindrical generator, all situated above a deadly shredder turbine.
Walking forward will trigger a Malicious Face to spawn at the beginning of the stairwell. Continuing up the staircase will trigger a larger wave of four
Drones and four
Streetcleaners, with two groups of Streetcleaners placed at the top and bottom of the staircase.
Laser Walkway
Climbing up the previous staircase will lead to a section of suspended transparent walkways, situated above the city in the open. Two Soldiers will spawn in the first corridor in front of the player, leading to an open section of walkway adjacent to a small building. Walking onto the walkway will summon
three more Soldiers inside said building, along with a tutorial prompt.
arms with 'G'.
Returning back to the main path, the end of the laser halls spawns a horde of four Filth and two
Streetcleaners, before leading into an interior building.
Walking out of the hallway leads to a small, dimly lit room, leading to a sealed case with the immensely powerful Electric Railcannon in its center. Picking up the Railcannon will open a gate to a tight hallway of five
Strays, encouraging the player to use the new weapon. A prompt on the Railcannon is then shown on-screen.
to keep fighting between shots.
Second City Block
After the room with the Electric Railcannon introduction, the player ends up at another city area, which is similar to the first city section but larger, with more of the center being broken up with buildings and other features. Upon entering the arena, a line of two
Strays, two
Soldiers, and a
Schism is spawned in front of the player.
Forward towards a large building with an interior corridor lies the exit elevator gate, blocked by another set of power box locks, requiring the player to search for another set of power boxes to destroy to finish the level.
Connected across the outskirts of the area lies a stream of flowing water, which loops around the edge of the city. Starting from the back left portion of the map, if the player slides down the stream, it will lead through a series of tight-knit tunnels and crevasses, before leading to a sewer area underneath the room with the locks.
To the left of the city block lies a large, multifloored apartment. Entering through either lower door will lead to a dining room with a fireplace and a set of stairs to the second floor. On the wall beside the table is a painting of the noble King Minos, as he was during the great Lust Renaissance. Entering into the room though will summon a wave of four Filth and a
Soldier to jump the player.
Heading upstairs to the second floor leads to a study room, along with a roof exit to the outside. Inside the room lies a book to read:
"...Gabriel struck down Minos, his flesh torn asunder with torrents of crimson pooling at his feet as we all cried out for clarity. 'Justice,' Gabriel decreed to all, with our just ruler writhing in wailing agony, 'The Lord's Will be done.' We watched on in horror as Minos lay broken, now waning, screaming in defiance of God's Will, Gabriel."
Power Box Hunt 2
The first power box from the entrance is situated on top of a small building, to the left of the arena. Upon breaking it, a set of five Drones will spawn encircling the platform.
The second power box lies on the roof of the building that houses the exit gate, to the top right side of the arena. If the player approaches it from the apartment roof, three Soldiers will spawn on the roof of a small building in front of the player. Walking onto it to head right to the box will then summon a
Malicious Face, before being safe to break the power box. If the player had skipped all the trigger zones and broke the box directly, all enemies mentioned would spawn at the same time.
The third box lies directly underneath the second one, inside the hallway with the exit elevator to the far wall by the right. When the box is broken, a Malicious Face will spawn and a
Cerberus statue outside will awaken to face the player, with the Cerberus being on the right side of the entrance and the Malicious Face being further down to the left of a small building within the center.
Once all boxes are broken, the locked gate will open and the player can exit the level.
Challenge
For the level's challenge, the player is only required to memorize the power box locations and break them as fast as possible while dodging enemies and being able to use all the tools in their movement arsenal, all while reaching the level's exit in under a minute. Explosive projectiles such as the Rocket Launcher and Projectile Boosted
Shotgun pellets can help break boxes from afar, as their splash damage and straight trajectories gives leniency for the player to hit the boxes with.
Movement techs such as Slide Jumping, Slam Storage, or Explosive Boosting can help traverse the arenas quite fast, especially with Rocket Riding and Quick-mounting as it allows for free mobility and speed from anywhere with being able to control where to go.

Trivia
- The title of the level is a reference to Live at 20,000V, a live performance by Keiji Haino and Boris at the Tokyo noise club "20,000V".
- In the background behind the entrance door, a silhouette of three towers connected by bridges roughly resembles the layout of the previous level, 2-1: BRIDGEBURNER.
