0-4: A ONE-MACHINE ARMY is the fourth level of Prelude, meant to be as a testing ground for the newly obtained Shotgun, along with introducing Malicious Faces as common enemies. The song used in this level is Unstoppable Force.
Level
Start
Starting off the level, the player enters a large, yellow lit arena, spaced with platforms and walkways around the entrance and a flight of stairs to a raised floor on the other side. Walking forwards to the end of the room will spawn a wave of 10 Filth near the entrance and 5 Strays on the various platforms. Killing either group of husks will summon a Malicious Face.
Rotating Tunnel
The player will then arrive into a long walkway, surrounded by large rotating walls which deals damage on contact, along with lighting enemies on fire. A larger platform lies in the middle of the tunnel, with two rooms to either side blocked by glass walls.
Walking towards the middle of the tunnel will spawn a wave of 6 Filth and 5 Strays, with the Filth stumbling into the arena through a glass window.
Final Room
After the tunnels lies a large arched arena with a with a glass floor, dropping into a large pit with a Shredder Fan. Walkways line the sides of the arena, leading down to a set of stairs to the exit door.
Walking forward through the arena will spawn in a wave of 6 Filth, situated at the far end of the room, 4 Strays on the side walkways, and 2 Schisms near the stairs. Killing all the enemies will then spawn in a large wave of 14 Filth across the arena to swarm the player.
Defeating the final wave will cause the doors to reopen and unlock the end of the level.
Challenge
For this level's challenge, the player must continually slide from the start of the level to the exit drop. The only obstacle which can stop the player from sliding continually is the glass panes which make up the floor of the final arena. If any of the three glass panes in the middle row of the final room (the ones that create a straight path to the exit) break, the player will drop into the Shredder Fan below, making it crucial to avoid breaking it accidentally with weaponry such as explosives. Once the player has finished the level's enemy encounters, they can then head back to the start of the level and then slide freely all the way to the exit, completing the challenge.
Secrets
#1 | Soul Orb - In the first arena on top of the platform to the left of the entrance.
#2 | Blood Orb - In the Rotating tunnels through a door behind the right set of glass panels. Entering inside will lead to a small square room with the Blood Orb behind a door. Entering inside will cause 2 Malicious Faces to spawn in front of the player, which need to be killed to collect the Blood Orb.
#3 | Soul Orb - In the final arena within a small pocket nearby the Shredder Pit. A narrow ledge lines the side of the pit, which can be accessed by sliding under a set of gaps beside the stairs. The player then needs to slide carefully on the ledge and into the nook with the Soul Orb and avoid falling off. |
Trivia
- This is one of the shortest non-boss levels in the game, consisting of only three main arenas.
- Alongside 0-2 and 0-5, this level's title is "not really" a reference to anything.
- Despite this, the name is still a play on the phrase "One Man Army."
