0-4: A ONE-MACHINE ARMY is the fourth level of Prelude.
The music used in this level is Unstoppable Force.
Overview
0-4 is set in an extremely hot section of the Prelude facility, with its arenas choked by heat and steam. Hot rooms are separated between by small cooling chambers, acting as stop points between arenas. The cooling chambers and the heat present in the level do not affect anything in terms of gameplay, instead acting as visual flair for worldbuilding.[1]
The level itself is a linear gauntlet, serving as an introduction to large horde fights with multiple different enemy types, focusing on the player's new arsenal with the
Shotgun.
0-4 is the first level to feature
Malicious Faces, and prior level bosses in general, as normal enemies.
Areas
FIRST ARENA
A large room divided by a raised floor with stairs. Interspersed with small platforms used by ranged enemies in order to surround the player with the threat of projectiles.
WAVES:
- 8
Filth, 5
Strays - 1
Malicious Face
STAIRS HALLWAY
A small checkpoint zone between the First Arena and the Rotating Tunnel. Houses the first instance of the level's cooling chambers, which lock the player inside to cool excess heat after they exit a hot zone.
ROTATING TUNNEL
A series of hazardous rotating tunnels, with a platform splitting the tunnel in the middle. Two smaller rooms overlook the central platform behind glass walls, with the right room leading to a small arena housing a collectible
Blood Orb. The Blood Orb is locked behind an encounter with 2
Malicious Faces.
The rotating tunnels act as environmental hazards that deal 10 DP on contact. Enemies are ignited on contact with the tunnels.

WAVES (SECRET ROOM):
PIPES HALLWAY
A small room with the second cooling chamber inbetween the Rotating Tunnel and the Final Arena.
FINAL ARENA
A large chamber featuring a glass floor situated over a fanblade pit. Two edge walkways lead down to a lower floor at the far end of the arena. A decorative transport rail and basket can be seen intersecting the arena above the lower level, presumably intended to transport materials through the facility.
The glass floor can be broken to drop enemies into the fanblades below.
WAVES:
Challenge
For this level's challenge, the player must continually slide from the start of the level to the exit elevator, as the entire level is one continual straight line. Obstacles that can impede sliding continually include the breakable cooling chamber doors which lock the player inside when stepping into the chamber, and the glass floor in the final arena, which if broken can drop the player into the pit below.
The chamber doors can be broken by any weapon, making them easy to preemptively break once the player enters the chamber.
To prevent breaking the glass floor in the final arena, avoid using attacks that may accidentally break the floor below, including explosive attacks such as
Shotgun cores, projectile boosts, parried projectiles, and interrupting enemies.

Trivia
- This is one of the shortest non-boss levels in the game, consisting of only three main arenas.
- Alongside 0-2 and 0-5, this level's title is "not really" a reference to anything.
- Despite this, the name is still a play on the phrase "one-man army."
