5-S: I ONLY SAY MORNING is Wrath's secret level, accessed through a secret exit within 5-1: In the Wake of Poseidon. Based off the trope of the obligatory fishing minigame, 5-S revolves around fishing up various different fish around the map, with some requiring other fish or baits to access new fishing spots.
As the player fishes, the time of day will also shift. First starting in the morning, then daytime, evening, dusk, and then night. The song that plays within the level is Lakeside Songbook.
Start
Upon exiting the elevator the player will enter onto the shore of a lake, with a stone path in front of the player. Nearby to the right of the pathway is a barrel with a set of fishing rods, giving the player a wooden fishing rod upon contact. Two other barrels lie for the player to collect it from, with one nearby a campfire closer to the shore, and one next to the door of a small cabin.
Mechanics
Moving up to any of the fishing rod barrels will give the player a fishing rod. This is the only item that the player has at their disposal aside from their arms, and is the central tool used to progress and catch fish.
Pressing the primary fire will cast the line out, with a distance meter appearing to the right indicating the distance of the cast. Valid spots for casting will be marked with an arrow and the region name where the hook will land, and invalid spots to cast will appear as a red X. Holding the cast will cause the hook to move further from the player until it draws back and cycles again.
If the player moves too far away from the cast, the line will break with this indicator:
Pressing the primary fire again when the hook is in a valid spot will cast the line into the water. A red exclamation point and the words "Hooked!" will appear once a fish has been caught. Pressing primary fire once again will then bring up the pull meter, which the player needs to handle with in order to reel in the fish. A marker controlled by the left and right mouse buttons sits upon a grey bar with a moving green section. Keeping the marker within the green bar will reel in the fish. LMB will rise the marker downwards, and RMB upwards.
If the fish is outside of the water, the fish will move directly towards the player without the need to reel in, with the indicator on the right being dimmed with the words "out of water" above.
Once the fish is caught, the fish will be placed in the player's hand, with a rotating view of the fish appearing on the screen, along with detailing what type of fish was caught:
SIZE: 1
Most fish can be caught normally with the fishing rod, however some fish require certain baits to be lured and caught. The baits that can be used are apples, Mini-Malicious Faces, and sometimes other fish. Both the apples and Mini-Malicious Faces can be found in large barrels by the wooden cabin, along with being able to be found throughout the level. Throwing the bait into the water will display a message if it successfully lures a fish:
If the bait does not work, it will instead display this:
Landmarks
Lake
The main focus of the map is the large lake found within the middle of the island. Nearby lies a small dock nearby the entrance to the level and a campfire with a set of wooden seats.
Cabin
To the right of the entrance to 5-S is a small wooden cabin nearby a water well. Inside lies a bookshelf, a stove with a pan of hot oil, and 2 barrels of bait, with one giving out the apple bait, and the other giving out the Mini-Malicious Face bait.
Well
Nearby the cabin lies a small stone well with a wooden roof above. Dropping into the well will lead to a small basement room with various machinery and monitoring computers within, along with a small bed. Near the wall of machinery is a desk with a book to read, filled with ramblings about an elusive 'Size 2' fish.

Waterfall Cave
Flowing through into the lake by the eastern side of the island is a long river, flowing out from a waterfall stretching across the sky. Behind the waterfall lies a small rocky cliff, housing a cave behind the water.
If the player somehow manages to make it to the top of the waterfall, either through highly advanced movement strategies or by simply flying up with cheats, they will find a small white cube with a blank face pouring the water out through its mouth. Moving close towards it will cause a prompt to appear when nearby:
Ocean
Surrounding the island is a large, vast expanse of ocean. Coming into contact with the water will cause the player to be sent back to the starting elevator. The player can skip across the water by sliding, however making it far enough will end up looping back to the other side of the island.
On the north western corner of the island lies a small glass bottle with a note inside. Picking it up and tossing it will cause the bottle to break and allow the player to read the message within:
If you can read this, please help. I've been stranded on an island off the shore for weeks now, and I'm running out of supplies.
I was drawn to ride the waves in hopes of finding the legendary size 2 fish. I had combed every inch of land and lake with no avail.
I deduced that they must exist far out at sea, so I set sail with a month's worth of cooked fish, but the waves sank my ship before I could find anything.
You're my last hope.
Set sail towards the big dipper, you will find me on an island there. Bring me more fish and then leave so I may continue my search.
THE SIZE 2 FISH IS MINE.
Flesh Cave
By the western end of the island lies a large pile of rubble with visible cracks, requiring an explosive to unlock. Breaking the rubble will reveal a wall of flesh, with a door of teeth within the middle. Walking through will lead into a large region of flesh, meat and bone, similar to the levels within Gluttony. Inside lies a large pool of blood for the player to fish in.
Exit Room
To the left of the entrance lies a small building with a closed off door, and a Grey Terminal beside. This small building holds the exit gate to 5-S, requiring the player to collect all the fish in order to unlock it. The Terminal acts as a log of all the fishes needed to collect, with each entry having a clue on how to unlock them.
Fishing Tips
Interacting with the Terminal will show a list of "awesome fishing tips" which contains entries for 12 different fish. If a fish had not been caught yet by the player, their icon will be replaced with its silhouette and the name will obscured. Interacting with it will bring up a page with a description about the fish, each entry holding a clue to figure out how to catch it. Once the fish has been collected, the silhouette will be replaced with the fish's icon, along with its name and rotating model appearing in the entry.
Fish | Entry | Location and Requirements |
---|---|---|
Funny Stupid Fish (Friend) | A stupid fish. A really stupid fish. A dumb cretin. A fool. An absolute buffoon. A bumbling idiot. Has a sense of humor. Easy to catch and very |
Within the Lake Waters found nearby the shore. Can guarantee the capture of this fish over PITR Fish using the apple bait.
Can also be caught sometimes within the Deeper Lake Waters. |
PITR Fish | A very smart fish. Loves cats. Swims near land and will often gets[sic] caught by fishers on purpose just to be nice. Always ends up at the bottom of fish hierarchies. |
Within the Lake Waters, found nearby the shore. Can guarantee the capture of this fish over Funny Stupid Fish (Friend) using the Malicious Face bait.
Can also sometimes be caught within the Deeper Lake Waters. |
Trout | A common lake fish. Prefers deep water. Seems to have been held in high regard by humans, as there are known mask replicas of them. |
Within the Deeper Lake Waters at the center of the lake. |
Metal Fish | A migratory fish from a land far beyond. Only survives in rocky areas, as it's[sic] diet consists entirely of rocks. Only comes out of hiding to feed. |
Found within the Cave Pool next to the waterfall.
Requires a Mini-Malicious Face to be able to catch it. |
Chomper | A migratory fish. Originates from Pennsylvania, so it prefers dark, unpleasant and damp places. |
Found within the Cave Pool next to the waterfall. |
Bomb Fish | An extreme kind of fish. Most often found in flowing water, as stillness would be boring and inadequate for stimulation. Has a self-defence mechanism that can cause bodily injury to unaware fishers. |
Found within the Stream, located at the eastern side of the island. |
Eyeball | A common fish. Requires blood to survive. Improves eyesight. |
Found within the Blood Pool inside the Flesh Cave.
Requires the Bomb Fish to be collected first in order to break the stone wall blocking the entrance with its explosion. |
Frog (?) | A migratory deep sea fish. Usually only found on moons, though it can survive anywhere with enough blood. Very territorial, attacking anything that enters it's[sic] domain and never leaves the deep. |
Found deep within the Lower Bloods inside the Flesh Cave.
Requires the Bomb Fish to be collected first in order to break the stone wall blocking the entrance with its explosion. |
Dope Fish | A migratory fish. Found everywhere, though usually hidden Well. Often found accidentally by heroes and travellers across their journeys and is considered a sign of good luck. |
Found within the Well located nearby the cabin. |
Stickfish | A common fish. Edible and usually farmed by humans. Can be found in kitchens all across the world. |
Within the Pan Oil found on the kitchen stove within the Cabin. |
Cooked Fish | A common fish. Lives in fire, eats other fish and only comes out when fed. Considered a delicacy, so fishers will often catch other kinds of fish purely for the sake of feeding them to an open fire to coax it out. |
Found by the campfire nearby the shore of the lake.
Requires a fish to be put into the flame to be converted into the Cooked Fish. The Funny Stupid Fish, PITR Fish, Trout, and Dope Fish are able to be turned into the Cooked Fish. Other fish put into the fire turn into a black charred lump. |
Shark | A carnivorous fish. Originates from Sweden, and has been considered a status symbol in human society, possibly as a sign of femininity or "those who receive", though the details have been lost to time. Lives in huge bodies of water and avoids land, though it may swim close to shore to feed. |
Found within the Ocean surrounding the island.
Requires a fish as bait to be able to lure it out of the water. All fish will work as bait, with even charred lumps from using the campfire counting as valid bait. |
End
After all the fish have been collected the door of Exit Room will open, and allow the player to finish the level. Inside lies the exit gate, along with a television and a screen to the left of the room. On the screen is the Fish Size Leaderboard, tracking the global and friend leaderboards of the largest size of fish caught. All players except for Hakita and PITR appear with a Size 1 fish, while the previously mentioned have each a Size 2 fish.
Upon the television plays a heavily compressed presentation congratulating the player on their impeccable fishing skills, with a distorted and harsh version of Sunshine (Mirage) emanating from the speakers.
At the edge of the elevator lies a Testament Terminal for the player to read:
Testament Log
"FATHER, WHY ETERNAL TORMENT? IS IT NOT CRUEL?
IS TORTURE UNENDING TRULY A FATE FIT FOR A FOOL?"
AN ANGEL SO BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL ASKED ME THIS...
AND I COULD FIND NO ANSWER
FOR I COULD NEVER FACE THE GUILT OF WHAT I'D DONE...
MY REGRET, A GNAWING CANCER
IN MY HOUR OF WEAKNESS, TERROR POSSESSED ME THEN
AND I CAST LUCIFER, TOO, INTO THE INFERNAL DEN
ONCE I REALIZED WHAT I HAD JUST DONE...
I COULD ONLY WEEP
AS I SANK SLOWLY INTO THE DEPTHS OF DESPAIR...
Trivia
- Many of the fish reference media or people.
- "PITR Fish" is a pseudo-cameo of PITR, ULTRAKILL's lead programmer. The description "Always ends up at the bottom of fish hierarchies" references his status as "...the dictionary definition of a bottom."
- "Trout" and its description are a reference to Trout Mask Replica, an unconventional album by the band Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band.
- ”Metal Fish” is a reference to the enemy of the same name from Amid Evil.
- ”Chomper” is a reference the enemy of the same name from DUSK.
- ”Frog(?)” is a reference to the creature that kills the player at the end of Iron Lung.
- ”Shark” is a reference to the Ikea Blåhaj Shark. The description "Possibly as a sign of femininity or "those who receive"" references the Blåhaj's prominence in transgender culture ("Those who receive" is in reference to bottoms, similar to PITR.)
- The level's name is a reference to the somewhat popular internet phrase "I always say "Morning" instead of "Good Morning", 'cause if it was a good morning, I'd be fishing.", which is used in several ironic fishing memes.
- Despite multiple dialogs in this level alluding to a size 2 fish it is impossible to get, with only the developers able to obtain it.
