Soul Orbs are optional collectibles found in most levels in ULTRAKILL. Their most common type resembles a big light blue orb with an aura surrounding it that hovers over the ground. Orbs produce a constant humming sound that can be heard from far away and ignores walls. Two other kinds can also be found: one deep red in color, and the other colored bright gold. Once a player collects them, the orb will shatter loudly into multiple particles of its color that will linger close to where the orb was for a short period of time.

Effects and Behavior

When collecting a soul orb for the first time, the player will be given the +SECRET Style Bonus, and upon completion of the level 1,000P will be awarded for each new soul orb collected in that run. The red and gold orbs give an additional bonus.

Red Soul Orb

The Red Soul Orb, colloquially known as a Blood Orb, sets the player's current health to 200, recovering all lost health and hard damage. Health in excess of the player's maximum is considered overheal, and cannot be regained by any means short of acquiring another red soul orb. On Harmless difficulty and on Lenient difficulty with 3 or more restarts, where the player's max health is set to 200, red soul orbs do not grant any overheal, effectively becoming full-health pickups. When encountered in levels, these orbs often spawn a secret encounter of some kind near the orb.

Gold Soul Orb

The Gold Soul Orb, colloquially known as a Dual Wield Orb, behaves like the standard Dual Wield power-up, granting the player an additional copy of their equipped weapon that fires in tandem with the original. This effect lasts for 30 seconds by default, though certain spawns may be configured to last 60 or 120 seconds instead. The effect can also be stacked, giving the player one additional weapon per Dual Wield power-up or gold soul orb collected without limit. Picking up an additional power-up will set the remaining time to the new pickup's duration if that new duration exceeds the time remaining (otherwise no time will be lost or gained upon pickup), and when the timer expires, the effect will wear off in its entirety.


After the player collects a soul orb, it will be permanently considered collected for all difficulty settings on the current save file. Finishing the level is not necessary to consider it collected, but seeing the level's endscreen is necessary to earn the point bonus for new soul orbs collected during that run. A collected soul orb is indicated in the level selection menu by a white square under the level it has been collected in. On level replays, collected blue soul orbs will adopt a grey transparent appearance and produce no ambient sound. If it is collected again, it will weakly shatter with a subdued sound and will not grant the +SECRET Style Bonus nor the point bonus upon level completion. Collected red soul orbs are replaced with a transparent red pickup with a large white cross in the center that provides the same health bonus, while collected gold soul orbs are replaced with a standard Dual Wield power-up, a transparent gold pickup with twin white handguns in the center.

If a player has collected a given amount of unique soul orbs of any kind, it will unlock the ability to set their weapon's color to a custom premade one in the weapon section of the terminal accessible by pressing the button "COLOR". The first color, "Standard" is always selectable and is by default. The other 4 colors require 10, 25, 50 and 100 orbs to be collected respectively.
