0-4: A ONE-MACHINE ARMY is the fourth level of Prelude.
Overview
0-4 is set in an extremely hot section of the Prelude facility, with it's arenas choked by heat and steam. Hot rooms are separated between by small cooling chambers, acting as stop points between arenas.
The level itself is a linear gauntlet, serving as an introduction to large horde fights with multiple different enemy types, focusing on the player's new arsenal with the Shotgun.
0-4 is the first level to feature Malicious Faces, and prior level bosses in general, as normal enemies.
Level
Start
Starting off the level, the player enters a large, yellow-lit arena, spaced with platforms and walkways around the entrance and a flight of stairs to a raised floor on the other side. Walking forward to the end of the room will spawn a wave of ten Filth near the entrance and five
Strays on the various platforms. Killing either group of husks will then summon a
Malicious Face above the room's entryway.
Rotating Tunnel
The player will then arrive on a long walkway, surrounded by large rotating walls which deal damage on contact, along with lighting enemies on fire. A larger platform lies in the middle of the tunnel, with two rooms to either side blocked by glass walls.
Walking towards the middle of the tunnel will spawn a wave of six Filth and five
Strays, with the Filth stumbling into the arena through a glass window.
Final Room
After the tunnels lies a large arched arena with a with a glass floor, dropping into a large pit with a Shredder Fan. Walkways line the sides of the arena, leading down to a set of stairs to the exit door.
Walking forward through the arena will spawn in a wave of six Filth, situated at the far end of the room, four
Strays on the side walkways, and two
Schisms near the stairs. Killing all the enemies will then spawn in a large wave of fourteen
Filth across the arena to swarm the player.
Defeating the final wave will cause the doors to reopen and unlock the end of the level.
Challenge
For this level's challenge, the player must continually slide from the start of the level to the exit elevator, as the entire level is one continual straight line. Obstacles that can impede sliding continually include the breakable cooling chamber doors which lock the player inside when stepping into the chamber, and the glass floor in the final arena, which if broken can drop the player into the pit below.
The chamber doors can be broken by any weapon, making them easy to preemptively break once the player enters the chamber.
To prevent breaking the glass floor in the final arena, avoid using attacks that may accidentally break the floor below, including explosive attacks such as Shotgun cores, projectile boosts, parried projectiles, and interrupting enemies.

Trivia
- This is one of the shortest non-boss levels in the game, consisting of only three main arenas.
- Alongside 0-2 and 0-5, this level's title is "not really" a reference to anything.
- Despite this, the name is still a play on the phrase "one-man army."
