Assists
See also: Difficulty, Cheats
Aside from the available difficulty options, ULTRAKILL provides assists for the player to ease them in playing the game. These assist options are split into two categories: Minor Assists and Major Assists. All assist options can be found in the game's options menu under the Assists tab.
Minor Assists
Auto Aim
Auto Aim targets enemies as well as player projectiles such as Coins and
Core Grenades automatically, moving the reticle and pointing the player's equipped weapon towards the target when it is within a certain range of the center of the screen. Auto Aim Amount can be set from 0 to 100, where the higher the value, the larger the range from the center of the screen where auto aim activates. Having Auto Aim at 100 causes it to activate no matter where a target is on the screen.
If a controller is connected during the game’s intro sequence, the option is suggested to the player as part of the calibration sequence.
Enemy Silhouettes
Enemies can be given thicker outlines or fully colored silhouettes to improve their visibility to the player. The activation distance can be set from a distance of 1m to 100m, or set to always on. Outline thickness can be set from 1 pixel to 10 pixels. Silhouette colors can be configured in the Colors tab of the game's settings.
Regardless of whether this setting is enabled, enemies still gain outlines when obstructed from view by fire particle effects or Divine Beams shot by Virtues.
Major Assists
While Minor Assists can be enabled at no consequence, Major Assists are locked behind a toggle and display the following message:
change the game and its balance considerably.
If "Major Assists" is enabled at any point
during a mission, the rank gained upon
completion will have a blue background. This
background can be removed by achieving the same
rank or higher with Major Assists" disabled
for the duration of the entire mission.
"Perfect" ranks and Cyber Grind high scores
cannot be achieved with "Major Assists" enabled
ENABLE MAJOR ASSISTS?
When enabled, entering any level displays the message:
Game Speed
Game Speed can be set from 50 to the default 100. Lower values lower the speed of all entity movement, including the player, projectiles, and enemies. Terminals, UI, sound effects, and music otherwise function as normal.
Damage Taken
Damage taken can be set from 0 to the default 100, with 0 making the player completely invincible.
Infinite Stamina
Disables the consumption of stamina, allowing for infinite dashes.
Disable Whiplash Hard Damage & Disable All Hard Damage
These settings disable hard damage, allowing the player to heal without the need for increasing style. This does not negate hard damage taken from black holes generated by The Corpse of King Minos,
Flesh Prison, and
Flesh Panopticon, the healing negation of the Flesh Panopticon's
eyeball minions, or 0-E: THIS HEAT, AN EVIL HEAT's heat resistance mechanic.
Disable Weapon Freshness
Disables the weapon freshness mechanic, allowing the player to keep using the same weapon without a style reduction penalty.
Disable Assist Popup
Disables the aforementioned Major Assists popup when entering a level.
